The location of the B Mobile Caribbean Area Squash Association Championships was changed due to swine flu cases confirmed in the supposed host country, Trinidad and Tobago. The Trinidad and Tobago Squash Association told the organizers and the players that they will not be able to host the tournament because of the country’s dangerous health condition, that may also threaten the health of the numerous players and visitors who are set to enter the country for the Head squash tournament.
The tournament was originally scheduled to start of August 19 through 23. Top squash players such as Oliver Downes, Alex Arjoon and Ashley deGroot are expected to grace the event.
The association said that it was the Jerry Narace, the Minister of Health, who personally counselled the organizers to cancel the tournament as soon as there were confirmed cases of the swine flu virus in the country. When the announcement was made, there were more than sixteen cases of swine flu. The situation has caused a panic among residents across the island. A number of institutions and schools were forced to close to have their areas quarantined and cleansed.
Dominique Willems-Bones of the association said that they have indeed spent many days and nights in the preparation of the tournament. It is one of the most anticipated and prestigious events in the squash playing circle. As much as the association is disheartened by the decision, it has to remain firm to ensure the safety of the players and their supporters.
The association however pushes for the tournament to be moved and held in another safer area. It promised to support any endeavour to organize the tournament for it to pull through. Organizers recognize the effort of the players who have trained rigorously for the match. They insist for the players to be given a venue to play squash in.

I have been taking in a lot of great new blogs of late. I am unconvinced about all the twitter stir. I still relish blogs and have over 1000 in my feed reader.
The cool thing about blogs is that you can find hidden treasures, and they are from people that actually like to put pen to paper.
Sure you can chance some stylish individuals on twitter. But, seriously, twitter is for individuals with add or who dont like to write genuine posts. Yes, lots of people twitter and also blog, and those souls are stylish by me, but I am forever and perpetually a blog fan.
Blogs drive the author to actually articluate their view. Twitter by comparison merely allows you to express it. Call me old fashioned but I reckon there is a point where smaller is no longer fresher. We have been obsessed with miniturization for so long. Especially when it comes to technology. Surely there has to be a level where we take in substance matters. Value matters. What do you think?
